Fund the Film

We began developing the film in early 2021, and have logged countless voluntary hours in this labour of love. 2022 began with a generous private donation, a further £25,000 crowdfunded from 237 donors in March 2022 and online donations via our website. This enabled us to shoot the film and we finished filming in March 2023.

From April-June 2023 we successfully raised £37,109 with 289 supporters for post-production with another crowdfunder. Along with some other generous donations this brought our total finance for post-production £77,750 which meant we were able to edit the film.

In fact, we were one of the top 100 crowdfunder projects from the last 12 months, You can explore the list at crowdfunder.co.uk/100

We had our world premiere in Dec 2023 at COP28 and our UK premiere at Oxford Real Farming conference in Jan 2024. The word is getting out and the screening list is growing by the day, across the country in small cinemas, community groups, on farms and other venues. Screening the film costs money so we need funds to ensure this film is seen widely. These screenings include panel discussions, connecting with local farmers and food producers, eating local food and drink and organising for key stakeholders to see the film. We know that these sort of events not only generate important discussions with the audience but are asking them to take action.

We also have private screenings being shown at businesses. If you think your company would find it useful to screen the film and to have our help in organising your event with one of the Six Inches of Soil team in attendance then please do contact us.

We are also showing the film in agricultural colleges, universities and schools. With an educational version of the film alongside teaching resources to be created, so we need funds to do this work. We hope that this project would appeal to trusts, foundations, companies and philanthropists who operate in this space.

We have set up a not-for-profit company, Springtail Productions CIC. The aims of this company is to promote and run impact campaigns around films, events and other media. Any income generated from Six Inches of Soil via screenings, and in the long term via a streaming service, will remain within the company to create more projects that can make a difference.

We’re also part of the 1% for the Planet global network that enables members to contribute at least one percent of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment. If you’re organisation would like to support us through 1% for the Planet please click here.

💚If our film speaks to you, we would love whatever support you are able to give. 💚
